JEE Main 2025: Latest Rules Announced By NTA

So Guys As Like previous years, NTA is responsible for conducting the JEE Mains examination in the next academic year. As the session 1 JEE Mains 2025 exam date approaches, it’s important for applicants to be aware of the new rules that have been introduced. These are some changes made to help students prepare better and make the exam process smoother.

So Friends National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced significant changes to the JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern across all three papers: Paper 1 is applicable to the BE/BTech stream, Paper 2A is for BArch, and Paper 2B is for BPlan. Here are the important updates and changes that all JEE aspirants should know:

1. Not Even One Optional Question in Any of the Papers

Among the changes, one can mention that optional questions in Papers 1, 2A, and 2B have been cancelled. Before, only Paper 1 had Section B, which contained optional questions, while, from now on, there will be 5 compulsory questions in part. As it is the case with Paper 2A (BArch) and 2B (BPlan), the mathematics sections have no more optional questions, which implies that all questions in this area have to be answered.

2. Updated Paper Structure

Here’s the breakdown of the updated exam structure for each paper:

Paper 1 (BE/BTech): Seventy-five MCQs will be posed cumulatively, which makes a total of 300 marks.

Paper 2A (BArch): There shall be 77 questions in total, and these will attract 400 marks in total.

Paper 2B (BPlan): This paper will consist of 100 MCQs, which also gives an overall marking of 400.

3. Mode of Examination

JEE Main 2025 will be conducted in online mode for all papers. But the drawing section involving this Part B of Paper 2A (BArch) will continue to be in the conventional mode offline.

 

4. Available Languages

 

JEE Main 2025 will be offered in 13 different languages: Gujarati, Assamese, Tamil, Bengali, English, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Urdu, Marathi, Odisha, Telugu, and Hindi. This is possible because that’s the language in which most students from different linguistic backgrounds find access possible.

5. Tie-Breaking Policy Changes

The systems have also been changed to the policy of breaking ties, which will make it easier to establish a just ranking of candidates that have scored equally. In the previous years, reciprocity to the extent that number of years was sometimes deemed in the event of a tie among individuals of the candidate’s age, which is no longer the case today. The new tie-breaking procedure is as follows:

Higher score in Mathematics: It means that if two candidates have had the same cumulative total points, he or she with more points in Math will be ranked higher.

Then, score in Physics: If they are all the same for the Mathematics score, the Physics score will dictate the decision.

Then, score in Chemistry: Next, if both Mathematics and Physics scores are equal, Chemistry scores will be looked at.

Correct-to-Wrong Answers Ratio: If the tie continues, then the ratio of correct answers to incorrect answers will be considered. The proposed rating is using the ratio of correct and wrong answers’ numbers, where the candidate with the better ratio will be ranked higher, subject-wise, in Mathematics, Physics, then Chemistry.

Same Rank for Remaining Ties: If there is still a fact that these criteria cannot differentiate, then it will be assigned the same rank to the candidates.

6. Change in Official Website

There is also another change in the official website from JEE Main 2025. The NTA has shifted to the old website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, again. Earlier last year, the domain was changed to jeemain.nta.ac.in. But, it is expected that for JEE Main 2025, all the candidates are required to visit the old website only for the registration process as well as to check any updates about the examination.
